On February 12, The Staple Center in Los Angeles hosted the 2012 Grammy Awards. In this ceremony, many idols had the chance to take home an award. Some where able to get more than others, but there was one person who was able to go home proudly with six awards. Adele Laurie Blue Adkins the 21 year old British singer has been very successful during the last two years. This year, during the Grammy Awards she took home awards for: “Album of the Year”, “Song of the Year”, “Best Pop Solo Performance”, “Record of the Year”, “Best Pop Vocal Album” and “Best Short Form Music Video”.

She received two awards because of her second album “21”, three because of her two songs “Rolling in the Deep” and “Someone Like You.” Her successful night earned her more awards than any of her female pop culture peers like Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Pink.

Her album “21” shows a sentimental side that allows people to recognize her feelings and occupies the 81 place in the best seller albums of history. The album also lasted twenty one weeks as the number one song on the Billboard 200. On the Billboard Hot 100 Adele has three of her songs in the top 10. Making her the first female to accomplish that. She is also the first female to have two of her albums in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200.

It is a surprise that Adele was able to take home six awards; it is great to see that someone can get six awards in one night especially after going through hard times such as throat surgery. Thanks to her successful album “21” and her encouraging fans she has become famous almost overnight. After seeing how great this album has been, they all wait to see what she will come up with on the future.
